Authentic Leadership & Talent Management

Authentic Leadership

How does 'Authentic Leadership' contribute to employee engagement and high performance?

The Authentic Leader builds commitment to shared goals by acting in accord with his/her values and enabling others to do the same. This is achieved by unlocking people's strengths and building trust. Contrast this with the popular idea of a 'Transformational' Leader who uses 'charisma' to 'overcome people's self-interest' to gain commitment to corporate goals.

Whilst both models share a number of elements, Authentic Leadership offers a more rounded view of motivation and behaviour. Our leadership consultants (UK based and international associates) apply key principles in development, competence management and change.

Profiling Authentic Leadership

The Pario Authentic Leadership 180 degree feedback questionnaire is based on extensive research and profiles key aspects of management behaviour. Prof. Avolio at the University of Nebraska noted in 2007, "most leadership research has considered the follower a passive or nonexistent element when examining what constitutes leadership". The PAL180 corrects this shortcoming. It is based on feedback from direct reports, offers high reliability, and enables organisations to identify key factors that support a productive, enabling environment. The Managing with AIMS training programme for managers addresses key aspects of behaviour highlighted by PAL180 feedback.

Our Assessment and Development Centres offer an additional pathway that helps build a culture of Authentic Leadership. Programmes are tailored to client requirements, strengthening alignment through effective Leadership Development, Competence Management and by building on personal strengths. Follow-up programmes include practical leadership skills training - designed to make a real difference to employee commitment and productivity.

Most performance management processes fail because they are based on flawed underlying assumptions about people and performance. Find out what these are and how we can transform the way your organisation thinks about performance.

You cannot ignore self-delusion. The problem with experts is that they do not know what they do not know.
